Site Inspections & Technical Assessments

Not every matter requires a formal expert report at the outset.

NextGen Experts can undertake an independent inspection or preliminary technical assessment to help determine:

  • what appears to be wrong;

  • whether further investigation is required;

  • whether an alleged defect is technically supported;

  • the standards or technical requirements that may apply;

  • possible causes and contributing factors;

  • whether proposed rectification appears reasonable; and

  • whether a formal expert report is likely to be required.

This can be particularly valuable before positions become entrenched or significant legal and rectification costs are incurred.

Review of Other Expert Reports

Where another expert report has already been prepared, NextGen Experts can review the report against the available evidence, applicable standards, technical requirements and industry practice.

This may include consideration of:

  • whether the issues have been properly identified;

  • the factual basis relied upon;

  • standards and technical references;

  • stated causes;

  • assumptions;

  • proposed rectification;

  • proportionality of the recommended works; and

  • matters that may require further investigation or clarification.

Where appropriate and formally instructed, a responding or supplementary expert report can be prepared.

An expert report is not prepared to support a predetermined position.

When engaged as an independent expert, NextGen Experts considers the available evidence objectively and provides opinions within the relevant area of expertise.

That independence applies whether the instructing party is a builder, homeowner, lawyer, insurer, supplier or other industry participant.

Where expert evidence is required for a court or tribunal, the expert's overriding duty is to the court or tribunal and the applicable expert witness requirements.
